Catholics 4 ever

I was born Catholic. I was baptised and everything. At the age of 8 I was supposed to take the "comunion" and I went to religion classes for almost a year, until my parents decided that studying`religion for 2 years was too much. They weren`t that much into Catholicism (and they are still that way). In fact they are just like almost the 75% of the population: They say they are catholic, but the only religious thing in their lives it´s a cross hanging somewhere is their house (or neck). Of course that they think they are good catholics, cause every once in a while they go to church, or they light fireworks for Christmas, but they can`t fool me.


But I kind of like this way of being. I mean, I met a lot of "real" catholics, and some of them where scary. They were horrible persons but somehow they justified all their bad deeds with the religion. This is not new and we all know how it works; so I don`t have to say a lot about it; you get my point.


Which is our real religion? Is it beef? Or Tango? Or What?


It doesn`t matter; the important thing is that if you are visiting the country or trying to understand our culture; don`t picture us as a catholic country cause we are not. The majority of the people think that a priest is as dangerous as a policeman (I need to talk about the police, but I don`t want to get in trouble ...) and going to mass is as boring as a tango show in Florida street.


So the final message is: if you meet someone and he talks a lot about hinduism, buddhism, Taoism or even atheism don`t doubt it; he/she is a Catholic.
