Why is this week so important for our country?

You should know, but I´ll tell you anyway.
Almost 200 hundred years ago, there was a major revolution in Buenos Aires, and basically we kicked the Spaniard viceroy´s butt and sent him back to his country and blah blah blah. But all of that is history, who cares about what happened 200 years ago? Why should it be important to commemorate the week of the Revolution of May?
Luckily, some very smart businessmen had a vision( I can imagine them meeting at a conference room just like in the days of the Revolution of May and planning a new revolution) and they decided that this week was no longer going to commemorate something that happened so long ago. So they declared that from now on this is the week of the Pizza and Empanadas (May 24th to May 31th).
How brilliant is that? Forget about history, think about Pizza and Empanadas. This is a strong message that I´m sure it´ll help our future generations to discern what is really important. Pizza and Empanadas week. Sounds great, tastes better.
So instead of trying to find out what happened in Buenos Aires in 1810, find out which are the new flavours in your favourite Pizza place.

well, given the choice of "who is the dude in the statue" or "whats the best empanada" , i find the latter much more important to my enjoyment of cultura portena...

Of course, ideally, the dude in the statue is pointing at the best empanada, and everyone is happy!

Can you belive that, having all the best coffe shops. and coffe bars we have to open a starbucks in palermo? this really sucks.

Another thing, 25th may is the best excuse to eat hot empanadas to burn our teeth, and the very classic locro. A tip for your tourists buds. And 4 of july to celebrate our independence day...

whoa, wait a minute, its 9 of july, my bad, my bad.
