Hey Diva, Lucky you, going to new York! Here are some tips: Places to see - Staten Island ferry (free and great views of Manhattan), Little Italy and Chinatown, Union Square market, MOMA, Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center (better views than from the Empire State, plus you actually get to take good pictures of the Empire State), Neue Galerie (Austrian art in a beautiful house, great cafe), Brooklyn (walk along the Brooklyn bridge then wander around Dumbo and Brooklyn's leafy streets), the Guggenheim Places to eat - Lombardi's (bustly, gorgeous pizza), Clinton Street Baking Company (good brunches), Katz's Deli (a classic), Spotted Pig, City Bakery, Island Burgers & Shakes, Frankie and Johnnie’s Steak House (though I hesitate to recommend a steak house to a porteña!), Magnolia Bakery (for the cupcakes) Places to drink - Flatiron Lounge (art deco-style bar, great cocktails) Places to dance - Studio B in Brooklyn (cool music, cool crowd, cool everything in fact but not pretentious. Also the second home of DFA records if you're into their stuff) Places to shop - Zabar's (food and cafe), Urban Outfitters, American Apparel Have a good time! Sandra
the best advice i can give you is follow this link and sign up for the nonsense nyc newsletter. http://www.nonsensenyc.com/about/
here is what you will find
"Street events, loft parties, puppet shows, bike rallys, costume balls, interactive art shows, movies in unusual places, parades, outlaw dancing, guerilla theater, burlesque and variety shows, loser open mikes, cirkuses, and absurdist pranks. Nonsense covers the stuff that has no name, or a name that you feel really awkward and self-conscious saying out loud, like "underground." "
For a great "burger and beer session" you should go to P.J. Clarke´s at 3rd Av and 55th Street. It is an old bar that has a very nice vibe. Nice place for a happy hour. They have a very nice raw bar (seafood) too.
Almost forgot, you can find a bunch of nice and small restaurants at Bleecker Street between 6th and 7th Av. This is in the Greenwich Village. I recommend going there for a weekend lunch. There is a good risotto place, called "Risotteria" and a nice seafood restaurant called "Fish". As you can see they are not really cretive on putting names to the restaurants, but the food is nice. :-)
Everyone has listed some great spots in NYC, and I'd like to encourage you to check out Brooklyn. From what I can gather from this blog you strike me as a Brooklyn girl. While you are here I can offer you a Brooklyn Bitch Bike Tour, if you're so inclined (email me). If not, I'll leave you with some things to check out in Brooklyn:
Red Hook - it's a neighborhood, and I think one of the best in all of the city. It's hard to get to, but has the best light and views, and is home to the best bar (sunny's)http://sunnysredhook.com/, Saturday nights are the best (not that all porteños are alike, but I took a group a few weeks ago and they loved it).
Best bar / restaurant for the vibe, music, and fig cake - Moto in Williamsburg - it's tiny, has the perfect feel, and good music. http://www.circa1938.com/
A great dive bar that's been around forever: Freddie's on 6th avenue and Dean (http://www.freddysbackroom.com/)
Good places to check out music that's more café and less Bowery Ball Room (aside from Sunny's and Moto): Zebulon (http://www.zebuloncafeconcert.com/zeb.swf)in Williamsburg, Barbes (http://barbesbrooklyn.com/) in Park Slope, Galapagos (http://www.galapagosartspace.com/events.html) in Dumbo (this is also good for new theater, burlesque, etc.). There is also Music Hall of Williamsburg for more well-known musicians: http://www.musichallofwilliamsburg.com/
I highly recommend you wait in line for pizza at Gramaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge, then get ice cream at the Brooklyn ice cream factory, and then walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to Manhattan.

Buenos Aires, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Hola, I'm a student from Buenos Aires who guides tourists as a part
time job. But don't expect me to guide you. First I have to check if
you are good enough for me. I mean, I really value my time and, since
life is so short, I don't wanna work with someone that is not
interesting and nice. It would be a waste of time and I rather stay at
home, staring at the wall.
But don't misundertand me: I love my job and I'm truly interested in helping you have a good
time and see the other side of Buenos Aires. I know history, and all
the things you would probably ask. But while I don't promise that I'll
find all the answers, at least I`ll try.
Well I`m tired of talking about me. Read my blog and you'll find out who I am.
