Need a job?

Oh my God, who in the world would work for these people?
Published on Craig´s list:

Bartender & Wait staff

As we are opening our 2nd floor boliche we are epxanding our staff. The CasaBar is known for the having the hottest and most professional staff in Buenos Aires so we are extremely selective in our hiring practices. If you have applied with us previously please do not apply again. Walk-ins are also not welcome.

You must speak Spanish and English
You must have previous experience ( having attended a Buenos Aries bartending course is a cruel joke and thus means nada to us , nor does frat/sorotity house keg master experience ).
Be dynamic or go back to teaching Spanglish!

Send resume and recent photo. No resume or photo no interview. If uncle Craig does not let you send photo then you are not too clever and you wasted your parents or my tax dollars on an under used education.

The Casabar is "The" bar in Recoletta period and our bartenders make more money than any other bartender in Buenos Aires. Why? Because they are dynamic!

Hmmm, doesn't sound too bad, actually, if such attitude can really improve service in BA :P

Plus, I'd say it's pretty effective. It will make EVERYONE to send in their resumes!!!!

The owner of casabar also kicked the *&$# out of a patron of his bar who hit on his girlfriend. The guy was out of line, but the patron had to go to the hospital and was in fairly serious condition.

I like expat bars and all, but I don't go there anymore.

Actually the Owner did kick the shit out of a customer though you have your facts wrong. The patron in question was a dead beat that owed a past bar tab and then refused to pay the bill for that night either.

The patron threw the bill in the Owners face who was standing behind the bar and then the patron sucker punched him in the face. It was at this time that Owner confronted the patron on the other side of the bar and sub-due him to the floor. Ask the drunken patron if he was ready to leave and the patron replied OK.

On the way out the door the patron again sucker punched the Owner who again quickly put him to the floor. This occurred 3 times with the entire staff and 4 regular customers as witnesses. The last time resulted in the patron getting a serious ass beating. This report can be found at the local police precinct were a report was filed by the Owner and is a matter of public record. A restraining order was placed on the patron ( out of work German National ). End of story? We shall see.

By the way for what it is worth this patron was also banned from the El Alamo bar for what? No paying his bar tabs and extreme disruptive behavior.

As for the bars ad I do not know what the hiring practices are, but I do know they provide excellent service, which we all know is rare in Buenos Aires.

Currently I am back home in the States and look forward to returning to B's A's and the lively and eclectic bar scene. The above episode I know of first hand because I was there and this blog was sent to me. By who? Dunno and don't much care.

Enjoy B's A's and really enjoy life.

Interesting story. Both of them.
annonymous 2; who are you; the owner, the patron or the customer ? or the girlfriend maybe?

I was the Chinese American gent 50'ish and a practicing attorney from Washington state that travels to Argentina regularly. Also I am or was quite familiar and friendly with Patrick ( ass beater ) and Fred ( ass beaten ). Actually the enire episode transpired well after the bar was closed as we were all welcome to hang out and chit chat with the doors closed.

Nothing interesting about the story and I really was not comfortable as a casual visitor to have to witness or submit a statement. Bummer!

So you as the journalist or blogger what is your take on the story. A real journalist will follow up: while a blogger will just sit on thier buttocks and type away as they sip on whatever they are sipping on.

BTW No girlfriends there aas best I recollect. Now that I remember there were 8 people present besides staff. Four Argentines ( couples ) and four Americans and of course Fred.

Patrick is widowed and has or had no girlfriend that I know of at the time. Or at least no female representing this was present. Fred was was there solo ( thoug I heard that he was porking his best buddies (( also a German Nation )) "hot" girlfriend at the time. So to answer your question I am neither of your investitagive minds suspect. Just a horney visiot that travles to Argentina for the chicas, chorizo and easy times. Sorry to disapoint you.

Good luck with your whatever you do for a living and enjoy B's A's because I sure the hell do.

This will be my final post here since I find personal blogs such silly and absurd means for people to promote their meaningless jibberish to other peoples that have nothing better than to surf the web of decite.

I´m sure that writing in forums is not a a silly and absurd mean to promote your meaningless jibberish.
And leaving comments on other people´s blogs about yourself is also not a silly and absurd mean to promote your meaningless jibberish.
Anyway, thanks for the story, and keep enjoying BA.

Bloody bitches, they don't even know how to spell "Recoleta" properly...
Hope they hire Hannibal Lecter. He'll serve the owners as they deserve: chopped into a highball glass filled with ice cubes and a straw.

Excellent blog Diva!

Ariel

What a nasty lot you all are. Bitch Tours says it all and your posters are cut from the same worthless fabric salvaged from the under belly of society. Expats I assume all of you are. Go back to where ever it is or from whatever you crawled out from under and leave Argentina.

LMAO

The laws regarding workers in B's A's is Socialist based and I have never in all my 12 years in lovely Buenos Aires ( Did I spell that correctly? I would not want to be Kung Fu beaten ,bitch slapped, or chopped and muddled into a human Mojito by anyone. )have heard nothing but horror stories. So these people post that would come across obnoxious to most people ( me included. ), but to sully the reputation of a business based on a "Craigslist" list posting seems more than over the top. Has anyone posting here ever frequented this establishment? Guess what? I want to go now just to see what all the fuss is about. If they are as terrible as the blog makes them out to be then it will be a one time venture and off to other places I guess.

Worst that can happen I assume is that get to watch Ariel Chop Suey the Owner and then it would be like having drinks and watching a sparring match. LMAO I will forward this blog to the club since I love being an instigator and dedicated blogger.

I´m so bored. Everybody started to take seriously something that it was obviously a joke. I´ve never been to this place, I just thought that their CL ad was ridiculous.
I don´t know any of the people and I don´t know what you are talking about. So I cannot express any opinion
But anyway, you are all welcome to keep making comments...
see you
PS: By the way, if you are the owner of the bar and you are reading this, you owe me a drink for the free publicity

Anonymous said...

Is the bartender his girlfriend?

Anonymous said...

All this negative publicity based off an an online advertisement? Did the Owner(s) actually post the ad or perhaps it may have been someone looking to create a problem. Worth contacting the busiess to find out I would say.

Personally after reading the blogs if I were the Owner I would be thinking if there were possible legal actions against your initial post ( which pops up on Google ) for defamation or slander etc. That would be of course in the States and I not a third world country were you have to buy coins from the bus companies.

Buy you a drink? Maybe a swift kick in the fanny would be more in order for careless and non-substantiated posting.

Through yours eyes you will only see what you want to see.

Final answer: Silly blog!

Diva said...

defamation or slander? You think so? I´m soooo scared.

Anonymous said...

This is ridiculous. Under no circumstances could you prove the that the tort affected his business. Even if someone did fabricate the job listing, it would be highly difficult to bring it full circle and prove that people stayed away from the bar due to this post.

Diva said...

hi,
of course that person was being ridicoulous, but you know how this works, some people like my blog, other people hate it, and they cannot just stop reading, they have to leave their hate comments because that´s the best thing that comes out of them.

I have cast my vote for this being the most dipshit blog by an expat on Argentina.

Get a life!

Diva said...

This is not an expat blog, I´m 100% Porteña. But thanks for the vote.

I cast my vote for this being the biggest dipshit blog by a Pooorteno too.
